A-Z Challenge--Letter X

X is for xenial. Xenial is when you offer kindness or hospitality to a stranger. Children learn this early. Before they learn prejudice.

Most children learn to be xenial long before anything else. Others their own age are automatically friends until they do something to anger one another. But they are not the only ones.
Aminals learn to live with different species if they are left alone to become friends. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Even when we travel for reasons not vacation, we can find children willing to reach out. Maybe we should think about being more xenial here at home.

  1. Still blog hopping from NC as fast as I can as we come to the end of the #Challenge. Love learning new things from bloggers like yours. While you have been busy, I have been writing about hotels and inns, the architecture and architects, the significant settings they are in. If you have time or interest, it’s not too late to come visit. I’ll be back.

  2. As long as we don't use being xenial as an excuse for treating the home folks shabbily.

I've found that with my cats, the ones who were old enough to remember my dog when she was a cute puppy always liked her. The ones who met the (Great Pyranees) dog when she was adult and they were tiny kittens, not so much.

    1. Nissa, I think you are right. I had a rabbit who was not afraid of dogs because we taught the dogs not to hurt her. However when kids let her out on Halloween, she did not run from the dogs who did come after her.
